How to differentiate students´interest from their interest level in the English class

One way of knowing students´interest could be through the checklist beacuse students have to answer what they are interested in.Also, they would have the opportunity to answer an open question in which they have to explain in detail what they are more interested in.

About students´interest level I think that one way of measuring it could be through the questions students have to answer at the beggining related to their interest in the English class.Thorugh these results one could see if they are interested or not in the class. However,I believe that they are going to write an answer that seems to be good for the teacher. For that reason, I believe it is necessary to create some questions  using the five-level Likert scale.
